Benfried b.v. has been founded in 1946, as a local supplier of materials for farmers and growers. The premises of this new company were located at the Dijkshoornweg in Den Hoorn.
After years of continuous growth this location became too small, so that a new and larger location had to be found. In 1981 Benfried migrated its head quarters to the present location, viz. Hooipolderweg 1, also in Den Hoorn.
In 1985 Benfried extended its activities by opening a branch office (Benfried Berkel) in Berkel & Rodenrijs. This office serves as a pick up shop for growers and private persons.
In 1986 Benfried bv started the production, sales & marketing of rock wool under a private label: Multigrow®.
The processing and sales activities are performed by Benfried Multigrow, a wholly subsidiary of the Benfried company.
In the meantime Multigrow® has become the state-of-the-art substrate within the horticulture.
In 1990 Benfried expanded its business with an international department: Benfried International b.v.
Since then Benfried International has become an key player on the foreign markets all over the world. Our customers are located in Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, France, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Canada, US, Mexico, Equator, Africa, Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
In 1994 Benfried b.v. acquired Van Nederkassel b.v., located in Zundert. This branch office serves as a supplier of horticultural products in Brabant and Limburg (the south of the Netherlands) and is specialized in providing services and delivering quality products which are related to the growth of strawberries and tree nurseries.
In 1997 Benfried further consolidated its position by integrating the activities of Van Dorp Tuinmaterialen. The sales of garden necessities and ornamental paving to private persons plays an important role in the overall Benfried acitivities.
In 2002 and 2003 the branch offices Van den Berg in Lottum and De Jong Gewasbescherming in Moerkapelle were acquired.
Furthermore, as per January 2006 the cooperation with Fase Boskoop was intensified by acquiring an substantial interest.
Troughout these years the Benfried Group developed from a local supplier to an all-round international organization. At present Benfried is employing more than 120 motivated employees.
In this way the Benfried group is able to provide its customers on the national and international horticultural and agricultural markets with the highest services, without any boundaries.
